September Goals

I Believe | inlovewiththeworld.comFor most of my life, September has always felt like a better time to set goals than January.  I was a student for 18 years of my life, and I’ve been a teacher for 3.  When I was a teenager, it was all about my visions for that grade.  What kind of person was I going to be?  What look would I try out that year?  What clubs would I join?  What classes would I take?  When I was an adult, working in various creative fields, it was the change of season.  The heat of the summer distracts me and makes me lazy.  Crisp fall (at least the promise that it is coming, after this fudgin’ fall heatwave that somehow surprises me EVERY YEAR ends) awakens my creative juices.  The cool air invigorates me, makes me productive, makes me ready to take on the world.

Forget January: September is the time to set goals.  These are my personal goals for the month.  I have a truck load of professional goals sketched out too, so let’s keep the personal life simple, fun, and productive, eh?

  • Write and publish nine blog posts.
  • Reach out to people!  Say “hi” to other bloggers I like at least three times a week.
  • Go to yoga twice a week.
  • Go on one local adventure.

  1. So glad you’re joining in. I like the way you think! Even though I’m not in school and I’m not a teacher, I’m definitely feeling the energy from everyone going back to school. It’s a great time to start with a fresh slate. 🙂

  2. Love your philosophy about setting goals in September. I think we’ve all been on the school cycle enough of our lives that it feels natural, and it capitalizes on all the back-to-school energy floating around.
